I wish I had better news to share but since I have been getting a lot questions and emails I figure it’s about time I let you all know whats really going on and why my show hasn’t been on TV. Last Friday I got the terrible phone call and found out TLC pulled the plug on Hook Line & Sisters.
It’s been a sore topic for me ever since, and a rough week learning how to cope with whats happened. Bottom line, I guess just not enough views to keep it profitable for the network.
Despite the sour news I’ve managed to keep my hopes up. When push comes to shove, I’m not one to easily back down. It’s been a long and often bumpy road just to get to this point, so giving up is not an option. I am very thankful to have at least been allowed the opportunity to give it a try.
Just because it didn’t workout this time around, doesn’t mean it wont work elsewhere. There is potential opportunity for it to be aired elsewhere on TV but time will tell before things come to fruition. I know that what I had was a great show and I don’t take any of it personally. I still have hope that something good comes of this. I am continuing to pursue my dreams and as always will keep you informed as my direction becomes more apparent.
Thanks to all of you who have supported and encouraged me in my journey thus far. I know where one door closes another always opens….even if I have to build it myself. Everything happens for a reason and I will continue to be content in that truth.
Enjoy a few photos from the season
First, let me say “What a great reality show”!!! WOW
Second, I am a big fan of several shows on Discovery Channel like the Deadliest Catch, Flying Wild Alaska, Gold Rush, American Choppers etc. and was surprised, disappointed and mad when Hook, Line and Sisters just disappeared!
I will end with saying, I cannot imagine your disappointment, but your show will return! Especially during these economic tough times in this country, I think somebody will figure out they missed the mark on dropping your story. Because I was a commercial fisherman growing up in rural Alaska I could immediately relate to your show. Be Patient, Persistent, and Positive! I know I am speaking to the choir, but hopefully it helps to hear what you already know from somebody you don’t know. Someday we must meet for coffee and see how many friends we have in common!
I loved your show!!! Hopefully we will see you on TV again soon!!!
i seen 1 episode and been looking for it ever since..shit tlc must want to get john and kate back..bunch of losers..greeting from newfoundland/
I’m so bummed for you and your family. I thought it was a great show.. Your right when one door closes another opens!!!
I really enjoyed your show!!!
I`m totally horrified that the show has been cancelled! i live in Scotland and this is one of the best shows around at the moment!! i really hope someone else picks up the show, good luck in the future and many thanks!
I am another fan of your show who found out it was cancelled by searching online. Your show was unique in showing that women can succeed in demanding physical jobs, and TLC was very short sighted in taking it off the air. I wonder if it would help to share all of the positive feedback you have received, such as the emails here, with the network. I hope you will try this. It couldn’t hurt!
A real shame!
I just learned the news, a few minutes ago, while trying to find the next air dates. My wife and I really took a liking to the show. I had become a little burned out with Deadliest Catch, and the dynamic of this show was a breath of fresh air. I wish the Anderson family the best of luck, good health, and safe fishing!
that’s a shame! really loved the show! sorry to hear that…
Oh man I loved this show bring it back
I loved your show. I have family in Sitka and I have worked as a cook on a crab/halibut boat and been out on the Bering Sea many times…You don’t see many women out there. I am actually writing a book about my experience. I really am sorry the cancelled your show…I thought it showed such a different view of the fishing industry. i have a feeling I know why your show was cancelled…I don’t mean to sound mean or anything but your father is a loose cannon. The way he talked. (I don’t think he ‘talked’ once..all he did was scream at you)…people don’t like watching others being abused like that…so maybe if your dad gets some anger management and counselling, you could give it another try because honestly, this was very interesting…but when he started his screaming, I changed my channels and apparently lots of other people did to. Good luck sweetie..you deserve great things in life.
Hello!! I was just looking thru the torrents to see if I had missed any new episodes. Nothing. Then i found out that the show was canceled. WTFish???? It was an awesome show. Your dad’s meltdowns, you and your sisters good looks, and good ol’ mom holding it all together.
How shows that follow a bunch of egotistical junk collectors bidding on a storage locker or watching idiots underbid their competition to haul a load across the country with the EXACT same formula every episode can be entertaining, is beyond me. They are sooooo boring!!!
HLAS was sooo much better and luckily its still available on torrents. All 3 episodes.
Keep your head up and line in the water, HLAS has potential.
Greetings from Vancouver Canada
Bah. I also stumbled onto the show by accident and heard nothing about it. Then as i was waiting for the next show, i was told by my AK friends that the show was pulled so there was no info coming in or going out for me. They need to do some advertising to get viewers. Although i watch a few other shows based up there, this one got my interest quickly, maybe because i go to AK to fish in the summers. stick fishing. There’s another new show I started watching about a famous singer’s family
up in AK and i’m beginning to think that was cancelled too because it’s been a few weeks since the last show. Anyways, good luck with things in the future.
i like really loved this show and to hear its off really ticks me off that show had really good potential if there was any shows in my favorite list this one be one of the main ones and oh yea keep at you’re job because you’re doing a damn fine job at it
looks like a good show , Haven’t even seen it yet ,heard about it from a friend now it’s over. Looks like the network didn’t do it’s job advertising . a real honest look ,at what it like fishing with family, and overall boat life that we all endure.
Oh no!!! I was wondering why I couldn’t find any episodes… That is so dissappointing, my husband and i were so excited to watch together… Perhaps see you on WFN?
Sierra I have been wondering what happened to the show. I had told my friends about it and was looking for it On Demand and searching to record on DVR. I couldn’t figure out what had happened. I am so sorry about the cancellation. I think you had a good show. It reminds me of a show that Discovery Channel might be more suited for. They have several other shows that deal with Fishing and the Ocean. I hope that someone picks it up. Let us know the viewers if there is anything we can do. I’m sure I am not alone.
Take Care.
You have an amazing perspective, Sierra. Never ever lose that and you will always come out on top. For the record, I thought the show was unique and inspiring because of who you are. Best of luck to you. I know good things are on the horizon!
Loved the show…. was waiting for more episodes…. darnit.
I own a boutique in breckenridge, co that you came into a few weeks ago the day that your show premiered! I loved your show and was sad when i heard the news. If you ever want a job in fashion come see me! Vintage sweet and chic 215 South Main Street, breckenridge. 970-485-9264
Hello Sierra,
I’m pretty angry and disappointed by TLC pulling your show off the air. I am a commercial troller and logger in B.C. and my kids and I really enjoyed Hook Line and Sisters. My kids are aged 6 and 9 and I thought the show was showing them what its going to be like when they get older. They are already spending time out on the boat with me and my nine year old daughter is learning the ropes of running my troller.
I hope the show gets re-aired in its entirety or is available at some point on DVD or the internet.
I vented my anger to TLC on there Facebook wall. I don’t really know what else I can do.
Keep your chin up Sierra. You are one classy person. Don’t let this set you back with pursuing your dreams.
Good Luck!
I seriously loveddd this show! I kept looking it on the guide wondering why it wasn’t showing up. I can’t believe TLC took it off the air. I looked forward to watching it every thursday and now its not on
I hope it gets picked up on another network. It really became one of my top fav shows
I can’t wait to watch it again on another network. You guys deserve it!
Sierra, As a daughter of a fisherman, I truly understand that you are nothing short of amazing! You really have inspired so many women and I applaud you on this. TLC doesn’t know what they are missing, and when you do get picked up elsewhere, they will be regretting every minute of it. My husband and I loved the show. We have it on the DVR and we have shown numerous house-guests the first couple of episodes–all of which who have agreed it is a keeper. Keep your head up, the show will go viral very shortly. Good luck to you and your family business in the future. Go hook em’!
I hope the show comes back I loved it my whole family watched it. I hope it works out have a great day.
I am confident a better network will pick up the show. The show meets all requirements for entertainment. PLUS, you learn some stuff.
Hang your head high – you will be back on TV in the very near future. I assure you! I respect what you do so much!
Keep smilin’
Tom
Really pissed this show is canceled. TLC sucks, giving into shock value tv instead of the family tv that was the premise of the network. Good Luck girls.
I watched the first 2 episodes and I was hooked. You and your sister are extremely tough and I raise a glass to you both for the tough jobs that you do, plus the fact that you are also working with your father as well.
I hope that someone else will pick this up and continue to show us the amazing job that you all do. Stay positive and know that something good will happen.
I miss you. I have been looking and looking for the new episode and just went on-line and found out that it had been canceled. I am so sorry what is TLC thinking. There are so many men reality shows out there that I looked for forward to the “girl power”. I hope someone else sees that this show has potential.
OH BOY…
I can’t believe your show was cancelled. TLC sucks! They cut your show but they can air a whole seasons worth of American Muslim. That show had a really sour note with the public because they were trying to convince us Americans that Muslims were nice people. Islamic law states that if you are not a Muslim, you are an enemy to the Muslim people. Well I can go on and on about the Muslims but that’s not why I am writing. HL&S was a great show. I know that in the last episode that I saw you thought you would be leaving your dads boat, has that happened yet? I know he’s your dad but I couldn’t understand how he could talk to you and your sister like that. I was really hurt for you and your sisters sake. Sometimes people don’t realize what they have until their gone. Good luck in all of your future endeavors. Frank
ARRRRRG! I couldn’t figure out why the show hadn’t recorded on our DVR – now I realize that it was TLC’s putz move. It was great watching your adventures!
I enjoy the show and wanted to see the whole story. You all work hard except your sister. I was worry your dad would have a stroke as the show wnet on. Too bad they took it off. How did you make out the rest of the fishing season? I hope you were able to make some money.
Show was great my wife and I really liked it . Found out about it from friends and they all liked the show. As has been posted on other posts it was not marketed very well . We seen 2 shows was there more aired or was that it ?
Couldn’t figure out what happened to the show – googled the title to find out it was
cancelled!! Two episodes is not enough time to hook viewers – enjoyed the fact that it
showed girls doing what guys usually do, hopefully another channel will pick it up and we
can follow your family adventures. Good Luck!
Loved the show! Found out about it on a Deadliest Catch post. TLC would have been nice if you had marketed the show better! Seems there are posts that people were enjoying it myself and my husband for one, very sad! You go girl!
I was so bummed to hear your show was cancelled. I usually don’t watch those kind of reality shows, but when a Facebook friend posted that one of her former students (Memry) was one of the stars of the show and that we should watch, I gave it a whirl, and LOVED it!
You are an amazing example for girls everywhere! Keep up the good work!
Hey, sorry to hear they cancelled your show, but hey, you did it. You got a show on national TV! And as you said, when one door closes, another one opens. Harry Potter was rejected all over England and now that author is the richest in history! Who knows what the next set will bring. So hang in there chica!!

I got a reply from TLC here it is,
Dear Viewer,
Thank you for contacting TLC. We appreciate your interest in Hook, Line &
Sisters. At this time there are no plans for a new season.
Please know that we have forwarded your comments on to program management
for consideration in future programming decisions.
Again, thank you for your interest in our programming.
Sincerely,
Viewer Relations
TLC
I did not ask about a new season, I asked to see the rest of the first season. oh well
I really REALLY loved catching the show. I have episodes 2 and 3 on my DVR and I keep watching them over and over again! I can’t believe it was canceled. I really hope that some other station picks it up.
When I saw you guys had a place in Chignik I about fell out of my chair. My sister was a teacher in Chignik bay in 2008/2009. So the connection and the fact that I knew where in Alaska, really wanted me to watch more!
As everyone else said, keep your chin up. There are plenty of t.v. shows that have been cut at first and eventually picked up. The show would have been a much needed addition for TLC with all the other crap shows they have on the channel, so it’s ultimately their loss.
I think Dirty Jobs should have an episode with you guys.
That would be GREAT!
Hi Sierea, please don’t lose hope. It’s like you said, when one door closes another opens. My dad and I are two former herring captains from the northeast of maine. We think your show was great! I miss seining and loved to watch you guys do it! Please keep us posted if you find another network. Also, tell your dad to calm down out there! lol I never yelled at my crew like that, it causes more confusion and doesn’t help fix any problems! I also have daughters, but they never fished. You do have a great show! Always trust your gut feelings! Take Care, Larry
I am sorry to hear they canceled the show i had just seen the preview one day as i was flipping through channels and i watched the show that night and loved the show i actualy recoarded show 1/2 / and watched number 4 and was looking forward to the nexted one and the next one never came on so i was looking it up on the inter net todat and found out they canceled the show and that stinks i think it is a great show i hope they change there mind if they promoted it more they would have had a better amount of people watching i wish you and your family well and a great catch this year
Sierra:
Sooo disappointed to read that your show was canceled. My dad and I both really enjoyed it and I’m in my 30s and he’s in his 60s. Interest spanned all ages. I watch a lot of TLC so I saw a lot of commercials for your show and really enjoyed the first two episodes. When the substitution was a repeat of Cellblock 6 (which I do not watch), and the internet said nothing about the cancellation I was pretty shocked and bummed because I though the show was so great.
I would have to disagree with a lot of the other commenters though, because your show fit right in with what TLC is doing in the evening times, ala Little Couple, Little People, Big World, 19 Kids and Counting. This type of programming IS intended for the family and airs in the earlier hours of primetime to show us a glimpse of how other Americans live their lives.
I hope TLC changes their mind. I will send them an email giving them my two cents.
Hang in there. Hope you get to captain your own ship if that is your dream. Otherwise, happy fishing!
Stacey
sorry your show was cancelled!!! time slot TLC had it airing 10 pm est. tsk tsk . really good show .something interesting to watch. maybe if people cancel TLC they might take a hint. enough of toddlers and tiara’s!!! tc Anderson family wishing you the best ..
i only watched this show twice and fell in love with it, i had never seen it advertised before on TLC until after i watched the first episode, than all of the sudden i was gone. I even tried looking for it by the name and nothing; later to my surprise, i find out ITS CANCELED!!! i am soo bummed. but as i am reading thru these comments i read that Sierra records her own clips or “episodes” and loads them. where can i find these, im so HOOKED

Total loved the show, tlc loss. It shows girls that they can be anything. Do not give up you have fans!
Watching it from Winnipeg,Mb Canada, Great show, Great Family, hope to see it again soon!!!!
I just tried to contact Viewer Relations on the TLC web page, When filling in the fields they dont even have your show listed on their list of shows. So I chose a show called Hook and asked them what’s up with Hook Line and Sisters and please put it on the air or at least on demand.
I really liked the show. Seems like TLC wanted it to fail. Little to none advertisment and put it on during the holidays. Well I am adding your blog to my favs so I can check in and see if the show will air somewhere
well that sucks i always enjoy seeing my how town sitka on tv and chignik looks like a nice place to live.. TLC just doesnt know whats good!!
So Sorry! We had a lot of fun watching it here on the east coast. We just to Maryland from Sitka in May-, so it was fun to see herring season from your perspective (and made us a little home sick! Best of luck, I think it’s so great to see women out there working their butts off!
Sierra, My son and our family is very dissapointed in TLC canceling this! We heard about the show after the first episode had aired from my dad. There was no advertising anywhere regarding this show but everyone I talked to who had a chance to watch it, really loved it. My Dad (Walt) is your grandfather’s (Bob) couzin and he called and told us about the show after talking to your grandma. Otherwise, I am not sure how we would have found this since TLC did almost nothing to advertise this. Tell your Mom Hi from us and we hope you find a better network and a way to get this show back on the air.
Sierra, I am so so sorry to hear about the show. I loved it so much, and will miss it. All the best to you and your family and i hope to see the Anderson’s on TV sometime soon!
Sierra, I am so sorry to hear you will not be on anymore. The show was wonderful and gave me hours of pleasure watching your family. all the best to you and I know you willbe back on the air.
I really enjoyed the show. I was looking forward to see the whole season. Is there anyway you could run the rest of the show on your website here?
Unreal. TLC really made a bad decision to pull this show. I was fortunate to be able to catch the one show that aired. I had been looking forward to following your show every week. Hope to see your show on another network. Thanks for showing us a great work ethic, love for what you do for a living and a strength that inspires other young girls that with hard work they can do anything they dream to do.
Wishing you and your family all the best.
Sierra so sorry about the stupid move by TLC. I thought your show was great. I was really looking forward to the time when your dad finally mellowed out. I will be contacting TLC to voice my displeasure. Hang in there and hope to see you and your family back on the air soon
Hoping LOTS of people call….bottom line is this isn’t a TLC show so to put it on there and then virtually have no promotion or advertisement on at least TLC, let alone the other Discovery channels was definitely a wrong move on the station or producers part. Then to put it in the day and time slot they did and to air the 2nd and 3rd episodes back to back…well lets just say not smart!

I loved your show! So disappointed.
loved your show,as commercial fisherman from kodiak,we could relate to it. Hope it comes back on maybe all the dissapointed viewers will let them know it was a good show and they will bring it back. I stumbled on it from a web site about fishing issues, they were advertising it on their website I think it was national fisherman. anyway hope they bring it back
I thought they did a really poor job of time and day placement, it was certinly worth the watch! So hopefully someone else picks it up there are enough goofy gulf shows to make room for one more solid Alaskan show! Good luck
I saw your first two episodes and I was “hooked”. I cannot believe that it was dropped! Can they not see the money making potential that your show has to offer? Seriously, I hope you stay determined to find a network to pick it up. Then you can show’em what they lost. Good luck to you!
So disappointed that the show was cancelled, i was so excited for the the next episode, they definitely made a huge mistake! I’m gonna miss it being on, good luck with everything and hopefully another network will find ya!
Hi, I just wanted to chime in and tell you that Alaskans liked your show too! We live in Unalaska, my husband runs a big boat out here. We grew up in Kodiak, he salmon fished in Chignik and Kodiak and has been around nearly every fishery in the state over the years…he had fun watching the fishing, telling me the names of the boats we could see, enjoying the scenery etc. This is a guy who mocks Deadliest Catch non-stop and cringes too! Your show was REAL. I’m sorry TLC is so lame and can’t see that. I don’t get it…they have some really random stuff on that channel and cancel yours!
Your show was interesting and the concept was good. Who would’ve thought that commercial fishing would make for successful television, such as “The Deadliest Catch” has become, but your show, in addition to the salty sea dog had more going for it with the personal touch of a family including mother and daughters.
It was a good show but it may have been a blessing that it wasn’t taken up given the risks of fame and opening up even a portion of your private life to mass public scrutiny. Success in this area could be compared to those who’ve won the lottery, some who end up with ruined lives with the added irony that they end up deeper in debt while others do okay an manage to thrive.
Its something to reflect on while you seek another carrier for your show. Let me second much of what my neighbor Mrs. Lindke said and add that one thing that can make the most critical difference is that if you pursue God’s glory, your work will bear fruit that will last beyond what any effort that you make for your self.
I did miss the conclusion of your show and wish you a lasting success no matter what form that takes.
Sorry to hear about the show. I loved it. Your dad could be a little much.
I am a widower and love to boat and fish. Call me. Lol. Honesty, good luck with everything. I will calling to complain.
great show. the big problem was the channel it was show on. tlc is supposed to be a “family” channel. too many four letter words{even if beeped out},too much of dean going “psycho”,and young people in seedy bars.
yes i know all those things are real life but i would not want my pre-teen or even early teen children viewing any of that.
put the show on a more appropriate channel.
Chuck you are so correct that TLC is or was suppose to be a “family/learning” channel. But they have filled it with shows like LA Ink, Strange Sex, Sister Wives, NY Ink, all of which have language and sexual content. I to don’t agree with the language or actions that are portrayed on these shows so i choose not to watch them. They should all be on a different channel. As for the young people in seedy bars the girls are both over 21. I did find a lot more educational value in Hook, line, and sisters as to how the wild caught salmon gets from the ocean to the table and how unbelievably demanding the work is. I really haven’t seen any educational value in the above listed shows.
I has a feeling’ sumpfin wuz up! I’m missin you guz but confident that your show will air elsewhere. TLC should’ve had more faith…
The reason you were born is to leave your indelible mark on the world. This is your authenticity. Respect your creative urges. Step out in faith. You will discover your choices are as authentic as you are. What is more, you will discover your life is all it was meant to be ~ a joyous sonnet of thanksgiving!
You, my friend, have profoundly impacted my world..and I thank you for that! Keep being authentic and living out your faith!
Like I told you before, you do amazing production work and show your work and family with truth, raw emotion, and beautiful imagery. Like the web site, the tv show was excellent. I hope to see more from you!
I was totally getting in to it! I want to see more!!! Every one I told about it was going to tune in. I think you have an amazing show and some day it will be well known all over the world
hang in there! Every body who makes it big, gets a lot of nos before they get there life changing yes
you WILL get that yes <3 when you do, let me know what Chanel and I will tune in!
My Dear Sierra, It wasn’t just of interest to the Northwest, I have had calls from N.C.,Texas, Michigan, Ohio, several from Florida, and Vt., represented…so it was a veried audience, all with favorable reports, and expressing much disappointment as they missed it!!!! So keep trusting, God knows all about it and your faith needs to remain strong. He loves you even more than I do…that has to be very great!!!!:):):) This is the day the LORD has made, we will rejoyce and be glad in it! Sending a big hug wrapped in my love, Gramma
I’m so disappointed that the show was canceled. I loved it and will miss it. I dont understand how some of these dumb shows stay on and then one comes along showing the hard work that a family goes through to make a living and they pull it. You’re a strong person Sierra and had such a good show. Love you and keep me informed on whats happening.
Seems that’s TLC’s MO. Not wanting to air reality shows about strong independent Alaska women. They did the same thing with Big Hair Alaska. No advertising- no promotion. Then nothing….plug pulled. But yeah let’s keep real inspiring shows like sister wives and toddlers and tiaras. Another Bad move TLC! Good luck ladies, something great will happen!
Sierra, I only watched one episode. Tucker turned me on to TRA and I’ve been following you on FB. I was hoping to catch more episodes. Sorry to hear about the cancellation. I don’t think they gave the show enough time. Folks like me were just discovering it. You brought an element of family and the outdoors to working families around the U.S. Maybe you could bring some episodes to the Breck Film Festival. Keep your chin up.
Sierra,
I’m sorry to find out that your show was cancelled. My 11 year old son loved watching and learning about Alaska. I hope your show gets picked up elsewhere. You were the highlight of the show and I know you will move on to do great things. Thanks for creating this web site; it is very professional. Thanks for the updates.
Will.
Sorry to hear about the show being taken off the air aswell.. TLC isnt one of my favorite channels to begin with , but i loved watching your show.. Id persue it still but with Discovery , Travel and Escape or History channel..
Hope everything works out for you and your family..
Mark
I’m so sorry!! The show was awesome and probably my favorite on TV right now. I really hope it comes back on! and TLC is crazy for taking it off.. I know not many people knew about the show but once you watched it you were hooked. Keep your head up girl and keep pursuing your dream!
I loved your show. I will miss watching Anderson family adventures. I hope to see you on another network or YouTube. Keep your head up girls and fish on xoxoxoxoxooxo
Sorry to hear that Sierra, I liked the show, it was interesting to watch compared to all the other crap that stays on tv like Jersey Shore or teen mom. I will continue to root for you and your familys’ return in some other way to another network. Good Luck!!
I don’t think people knew about the show,I also found it by accident, The girls were great finally a program without foul language every other minute & dressed instead of showing ever thing GOD gave them, its good to see women working hard on a real job, instead of bedding down every male in site. PUT THE SHOW BACK ON FOR US PEOPLE WHO APPRECIATE REAL LIFE SHOWS THAT ARE NOT XXXXXX RATED
Sorry to hear the news Sierra and thought HL&S was a great show. Really something that people in the Pacific NW could relate to rather then crabbing in the Bering Sea or shrimp netting on the Gulf Coast. Stay positive and love your comment of quitting is NOT a option!!!! I know with the support and love of your Dad, Mom & Memry you will be successful in all your future adventures and dreams!!!!!! XO’s from the 253, Tacoma,WA. FISH ON!!!!!!!!!
I’m so sorry to hear this! I JUST found the show (by accident) a couple weeks ago. I wonder how the show would have done if they had actually ADVERTISED it? I don’t remember ever seeing an ad for it, and I watch TLC all the time. I hope you find another network to air it. I think it was great!
Your show is amazing. TLC is stupid for pulling your show. They will regret it.
Even Seinfeld got the hook a few times before it started to catch on. Chin up.
That really sucks! TLC are idiots, they obviously don’t listen to public opinion.Hopefully another cable network will pick up your show. Good luck!
Sincerely,
Steve Faye
I am REALLY sorry to hear that. I REALLY REALLY liked the show. I am a California beach girl & this is so far removed from what I know, it was a great escape. I applaude you for your efforts & lifestyle. U rock & show that women CAN do anything. U go girl!!
I loved the show,i am from Newfoundland and anything to do with fishing is a must, hopefully it airs on another networks.
